The State University of New York, College at Old Westbury, as part of the educational mission of the college, strives to offer a program of NCAA Division III athletics that will meet individual needs, interest and abilities of all students who participate. Our goal is to develop an environment that value s cultural diversity and gender equity among student athletes and staff.
The Athletic Department at SUNY Old Westbury is committed to provide close interaction between its coaches, staff and student athletes. This will allow our participants an opportunity to strive for their personal best. We believe active participation on an intercollegiate team will provide student athletes an opportunity to develop lifetime skills such as leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship and community service.
Old Westbury athletics will strive to attain competitive excellence in all sports programs. Local, regional and national achievement shall be a goal for all teams. The mission of the Old Westbury athletic program is a commitment to excellence of the scholar athlete, on who strives to lead in work, in the community, and in life.
NCAA Division III Mission Statement
Colleges and Universities in NCAA Division III…including Old Westbury…place highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all academic programs. They seek to establish and maintain an environment in which a student-athlete's athletic activities are conducted as an integral part of the student-athlete's educational experience. They also seek to establish and maintain an environment that values cultural diversity and gender equity among their student-athletes and athletics staff.

- Division III athletics feature athletes who receive no financial aid related to their athletic skills and athletic departments that are staffed and funded like any other department in the university.
