16-1 VICTORY IN HOME OPENER
(Old Westbury, NY) Thursday, March 11, 2004 – Sophomore C Jeff Patrissi batted in four runs in his Panther Park home debut. His third inning double scored RF Tom Nuzzolese and 1b Ray Montoro as Old Westbury (1-2) defeated Polytechnic (0-2) 16 to 1. Patrissi was also hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score SS Angel Melendez in a six run fourth inning and walked with the bases loaded during a two run seventh inning to plate SS Roberto Bravo. The win was the first ever for Hector Aristy as head coach of the Old Westbury Panthers.

SOFTBALL HOME OPENER POSTPONED: The 2004 Old Westbury Lady Panther Softball debut, scheduled for Saturday, March 13 against NYU, has been postponed. The doubleheader will be made up on a date TBA. The Lady Panthers are now scheduled to open their season Wednesday March 24 with two games at FDU-Florham at 230 PM. Old Westbury Softball is scheduled to open at home Saturday March 27, with two games against Manhattanville a College at 1200 noon at Panther Park.
(Old Westbury, NY) Friday, March 12, 2004 – Entering the spring sports season, the College at Old Westbury trails Farmingdale State by only two points in the annual intercollegiate team competition for Nassau County bragging rights symbolized by the Presidents Cup. The rivalry, formally established by the presidents of both public four year institutions in the fall of 2002, awards two points for each win in mens soccer, womens volleyball, mens or womens basketball, baseball and softball. One point is earned for a tie. Two points were most recently earned by Old Westbury, as the Panthers defeated Farmingdale 73-66 in the semi finals of the Skyline Conference Mens Basketball Tournament.
UPCOMING PRESIDENTS CUP EVENTS: Old Westbury baseball visits Farmingdale State, Wednesday, March 24 for a single game at 300 PM. Panther baseball will host Farmingdale for a doubleheader, Saturday, March 27 1200 noon at Panther Park. Lady Panther softball will visit Farmingdale Saturday, April 24 for a doubleheader starting at 1200 noon at Panther Park.
