(Old Westbury, NY) Saturday, March 27, 2004 --- Junior RHP Richard Ruiz allowed a mere two runs in six innings, and struck out six along the way. However, the Panthers could only manage four hits in todays 0-2 loss to Farmingdale State at Panther Park and were thus shut out. The Rams scored all the runs they needed in the first inning on ground out by C Phillip Corso, scoring LF Gary Block, and an RBI single by 3B Gary Anderson, scoring SS Ian Roche Tilden.
Second game: Scoreless through five innings, Farmingdale took a 1-0 lead in the top of the sixth. But the Panthers used a 2 RBI double by first year OF Greg Jones, scoring pinch runner Darly Alcantara and 3B Vince Cucuzza to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth. LHP Francisco Felix received credit for the 3-1 win, while RHP Nick Perez earned a save.
(Newburgh, NY) Sunday, March 28, 2004 --- The Panthers allowed four runs in the first inning against Mt St Mary College, but fought back to score two in the third, five in the sixth and one in the seventh to earn a 8-6 win. First year OF John Decrescenzo had the biggest hit of the game, a sixth inning single which scored 3b Vince Cucuzza and RF Joe Nuzzolese to tie the game at six. Decrescenzo would score the go ahead run on a pinch hit single by senior Chris Waye.
Second game: Sophomore RHP Argelis Rosario scattered five hits, struck out four and allowed only one run over six innings against Mt St Mary College. First year RHP Emilio Tapia pitched the seventh inning to save the 3-1 win.
KARN, PANTHERS SHUT OUT LEHMAN COLLEGE – Senior RHP Tom Karn threw eight scoreless frames against the Lightning, scattering four hits and striking out seven Tuesday, March 30 at Panther Park. 3b Vince Cucuzza nailed four singles in five at bats and drove in the first run of a four run second inning. The game was called due to darkness after 7.5 innings complete. – MCF

RAINOUT NOTES: Rain cancelled the single baseball game at SUNY Purchase, scheduled for Thursday April 1. It will be made up as a second home game Wednesday April 28. What is now a doubleheader is scheduled to start at 200 PM.
Rain cancelled the single baseball game at SUNY Maritime, scheduled for Wendesday March 31. It will be made up Monday, April 5 at 400 PM at Maritime College in the Bronx.
Rain also cancelled the softball game vs. Baruch College, scheduled for Wednesday March 31 at Panther Park. It is scheduled to be made up Monday, April 12 at 300 PM.
LADY PANTHER SOFTBALL HOME DEBUT
(Old Westbury, NY) undated --- Old Westbury softball is scheduled to take to the turf of Panther Park for the first time in 2004 Saturday, April 3 for a non conference doubleheader against Lehman College. First pitch will be at 12 noon. The Lady Panthers are 0-2, 0-2 in the Skyline Conference having dropped a couple of games to Mt St Mary College earlier in the week.

ATHLETIC AWARDS NIGHT, SAVE THE DATE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 5
(Old Westbury, NY) Tuesday, March 23, 2004 --- Old Westbury Athletics and the Panther Pride Club will honor all student athletes of 2003-04 at Athletic Awards Night, Wednesday, May 5, 2004. Presentations will start at 700 PM in the Atrium Theater of the Campus Center, and include announcements of MVPs for each intercollegiate athletic team. Overall Mens and Womens Student Athletes of the Year, Panther of the Year and recognition of outstanding academic achievements of select Old Westbury athletes are also on the program for the night.
Old Westburys annual athletic awards night is a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our student athletes, on the field and in the classroom, and should not be missed. The entire Old Westbury Community is invited to the awards presentation, as well as all Old Westbury Student Athletes and Coaches.
