PANTHERS CLAIM FIVE EVENTS IN OPENER AGAINST YORK COLLEGE

JAMAICA, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's swimming team opened its season Monday against York College in a non-conference dual meet in Jamaica, New New York. Junior Nicholous Perdomo (Hempstead, NY) won three events and junior Ronald Ott (Garden City Park, NY) and freshman Sam Liu (Staten Island, NY) each won an event, but fell to the Cardinals, 113-86.
Sam Liu claimed Old Westbury's first victory of the season, as he won the 50 breaststroke by touching the wall in 1:08.20. Nicholous Perdomo took the 100 butterfly, touching in 1:25.65. He also captured the 50 and 100 IM in 36.01 and 1:21.93, respectively. Ronald Ott swam the 100 backstroke in 2:05.80 to finish first while freshman Regis Burton (Bronx, NY) posted a time of 2:06.86. Senior John Rodgers (Hempstead, NY) grabbed a trio of second place finishes in the 50 breaststroke (39.00), 100 breaststroke (1:20.99) and 200 IM (3:12.57). Freshman Gregory Mertens (Hicksville, NY) recorded a second place finish in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 30.22.
Old Westbury claimed second in the 200 medley relay, as the foursome of Burton, Ott, Rodgers and Mertens swam with a collective time of 2:33.19. Old Westbury capped the day with second place in the 200 free relay, as Burton, Paul, Liu and Ott had a combined time of 2:57.19.
BROOKLYN NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury will take on Brooklyn College in a non-conference battle on Thursday, December 3 at the Old Westbury Aquatic Center.
