BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY (www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – The SUNY College at Old Westbury men’s golf team finished seventh at the Long Island Intercollegiate Championship, Friday held at par-72 6,925 yard The Bridge Golf Club in Bridgehampton, New York. The Panthers as a team cut their day one total by three during Friday’s final round.

Freshman Matthew Lester fired a 103 and finished the tournament at +55 (96-105=197) to lead the squad in 29th place. Steven Stumper shot 103 for the round and finished 31st at +61 (102-103=205). Amanda Laib carded a 95, 19 strokes improved from her day one score and finished in 32nd place at +65 (114-95=209). Kurt Evans finished 33rd at +75 (108-111=219). 

Dowling won the Long Island Inercollegiate Championship by three strokes at +80 (656) despite the late charge from Farmingdale State at +83 (659). Mike Midgette of Nassau Community College and Luke Walters from Dowling took co-medalist honors at +10 (154). 

OW Results: 29th Matthew Lester (96-105=197, +55), 31st, Steven Stumper (102-103-205, +61), 32nd Amanda Laib (114-95=209, +65), Kurt Evans (108-111-219, +75) and Joseph Perry had a 109 (+37) on the first day. 

Top Five: T1. Mike Midgette, Nassau Community College (79-75=154, +10), T1 Luke Walters, Dowling (76-78=154, +10), 3. Anthony Corzi, Dowling (75-81=156, +12), 4. Matt Livolsi, Farmingdale State (80-78=158, +14), 5. Matt Dennis (85-74=159, +15).
