Amanda Olsson-Boman were honored when State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced the 2009-10 SUNY Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete Awards. The award recognizes a combination of academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I, Division III and NJCAA levels.
Dan Fordyce concluded her four year career for the Panthers baseball team this season as he posted a conference leading 81.1 innings pitched, 67 strikeouts and 12 starts, all of which were career highs for the southpaw pitcher from Brentwood, New York. Over his four year career with Old Westbury, Fordyce amassed a career-mark of 13-10 with eight complete games, two shutouts and 151 strikeouts. He totaled 49 appearances including 33 starts on the mound In 207 innings. In 2009, Fordyce was named All-Skyline Conference Second Team after posting a 5-0 record, ranking 5th in the conference in ERA and opposing batting average. Dan will be graduating with a degree in Media & Communications.
Dan has been on the Old Westbury Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in six of his seven semesters and was named to the Spring 2009 Skyline Conference Scholar Athlete List. Entering the Spring 2010 semester, Dan has a 3.12 cumulative GPA.
Amanda Olsson-Boman is a junior Media & Communications major from Stockholm, Sweden and concluded her second year with the women’s swimming team. Amanda captured second-place in the 200 Butterfly at the 2010 Skyline Conference Championship with a finish time of 2:50.48 to earn Second Team All-Conference honors. In 2009, she earned second-place in the 100 Backstroke at the Skyline Conference Championship, finishing in 1:17.45 en route to claiming Second Team All-Conference.
Amanda has been on the Old Westbury Athletic Director's Honor Roll in both of her two semesters at Old Westbury and was named to the Spring 2009 Skyline Conference Scholar Athlete List. Entering the Spring 2010 semester, Amanda has a 3.96 cumulative GPA.
