CLIFTON PARK, NY (
www.oldwestburypanthers.com) – Skyline Conference commissioner Tracy King announced 21 student-athletes from SUNY College at Old Westbury have been named Winter/Spring 2009-10 Sport Scholar-Athletes in the sports of men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s swimming, women’s swimming, baseball and softball.
To earn recognition as a Skyline Conference scholar-athlete, a student must have a 3.30 semester GPA or higher. total of 318 winter and spring sport student-athletes earned Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete honors by achieving a minimum 3.30 GPA during the semester in which they competed, Including the fall semester, a total of 676 student-athletes earned Scholar-Athlete honors for the year – the most that the conference has ever had, eclipsing last year’s total of 605.
The winter/spring sport Scholar-Athletes of the Year are the individuals with the highest semester GPA’s among first-team all-conference selections. If no individual on the fist team had at least a 3.30, then the individual with the highest semester GPA among second-team all-conference selections receives the award.
