Old Westbury’s women’s lacrosse team participated in the Long Island Step Out Walk to stop diabetes at Jones Beach State Park on September 29

WANTAGH, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - On September 29, the SUNY College at Old Westbury women's lacrosse team participated in the Long Island Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes, a 1.3 or 5mile walk that took place at Jones Beach State Park.

Old Westbury women's lacrosse teamed up with a pair of red striders (children and adults who have type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes) completed the 5 mile walk.  The Panthers were one of the more visible groups at the 5 mile walk, with a group of more than 10 members participating in the walk.

"The walk was very inspiring for my team," said Old Westbury head women's lacrosse coach Lauren Schneider.  "It hit home for several student-athletes that have family and friends with diabetes."

Schneider, along with Old Westbury women's lacrosse players Imani Blake, Courtney Gallagher, Ashley Gugliuzzo, Halle Johnson, Emily Powell, Erika Rivera, Jordan Schildt, Caitlin Thomas and Danielle Weir participated in the event.
