OLD WESTBURY, NY --- (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) SUNY Old Westbury director of athletics Lenore J. Walsh announced Friday the appointment of Rich Borawski as the Panthers' next head softball coach.

"I am excited for the opportunity to be Old Westbury's next head softball coach," said Borawski.  "With my coaching backgrounds in college and high school, I am looking forward to bringing the program back to postseason play."

Borawski, who also serves as Old Westbury's head women's volleyball coach, is no stranger to college softball.  From 2009-12, Borawski held the role of assistant softball coach at NCAA Division II Adelphi University.  During his four seasons with the Panthers, Adelphi totaled 128 wins during that span.  Borawski's time at Adelphi led to the development of all-american (1), all-region (7) and all-conference (23) selections.

Borawski spent the 2017 season as the head junior varsity softball coach at Farmingdale High School, where he led the Dalers to a 9-3 record.  He also coached The Mary Louis Academy's softball team from 1992 to 1998, where he guided the Hilltoppers to the 1998 New York State Catholic School Championship and Diocesan City Championship.

Borawski received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in Business Administration in 1991, and achieved his master's degree in Health Education in 2001 from Hofstra University.

He is currently a Health Education teacher at Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale, New York, while also serving as Assistant Chief of Lifeguards on the City of Long Beach Ocean Patrol.  Borawski resides in Oceanside, New York, with his wife, Laura, sons, Brady, Greyson and Hunter, and daughter, Peyton.
