OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Four SUNY College at Old Westbury student-athletes have been selected as SUNY Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award winners for 2007-08. Interim SUNY Chancellor John B. Clark announced that the four SUNY College at Old Westbury student-athletes were among 76 recognized from 27 campuses. Recipients were selected after a thorough review of their credentials and accomplishments by athletic directors from across the State University System
This year's winners were Whitney Alexander (Women's Volleyball), Maria Canino (Softball), Brenda Marmol (Women's Swimming) and George Pagan (Baseball).
The Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award was created in 2003-04 to recognize students who have combined academic excellence and outstanding athletic achievement at the Division I, Division III and NJCAA levels.
