(Old Westbury, NY)--- Old Westbury Baseball returned from a five game road trip to Cocoa Florida with three wins and two losses, and an even record overall.
Senior SS Angel Melendez was among many Panthers who took advantage of the warmer weather to prep for the approaching Skyline season. Melendez scored the only run in an eight inning 1-0 win over Waynesburg (PA). He scored thanks to a sacrifice fly to center field by senior C Manny Ruiz. Melendez also hit a three run home run in the top of the seventh inning against Pikeville (KY), clinching a 10-7 win.
Among newcomers, first year OF John Decrescenzo made an impact with three hits in four at bats, including a two RBI double in an 8-7 win over Pikeville.
Old Westbury Baseball returns to actuion this week with a single game at Farmingdale (Wendesday 03/24/04 at 300 PM), a single game at Division II Adelphi (thrusday 03/25/04 at 300 PM), a home double header against Farmingdale (Saturday 03/27/04, 12 noon at Panther Park), and a double header at Mt St Mary (Sunday, 03/28/04, 100 PM). All scheduled games subject to change.
