Panthers Lose Conference Opener to USMMA 13-7

Old Westbury, NY—The Merchant Marine Mariners came out on fire scoring 6 runs in the first 2 innings. The Panthers answered with 5 runs of their own in the 5th inning and 2 more runs in the 6th to lead USMMA 7-6. In the 7th inning USMMA came out to score 7 runs to take the lead.

Freshman Jamie Quinn (Massapequa, NY) and junior Rob Knips (Commack, NY) led the Panthers offense. Quinn went 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Knips going 1 for 4, knocked in 2 RBI’s and had 1 stolen base.

The Panthers will face USMMA again this Saturday April 2nd for a double header at Kings Point beginning at 12:00pm.
