Felix Tatis is Named Baseball Skyline Player of the Year
May 10, 2005

Senior Felix Tatis, a native of Bronx, NY, came to Old Westbury from Madison High School in 2002. In his four year stint as a Panther, Felix played in 116 games and started in all 34 games this season. As the Panthers most versatile player, Felix saw time at 2nd base, 3rd base, and at the pitchers mound. This season Felix doubled his career stats accumulating a .442 batting average, knocking in 34 runs off of 57 hits. His batting average earned him recognition on the NCAA Division III Statistic Rankings where Felix placed 44th in the nation. After having a tremendous year at the mound in 2004 where he finished with a 2.48 ERA, Felix stepped to the plate as a relief pitcher 3 times this season to help his team battle for the win.

“Felix’s senior season was outstanding,” said Head Coach Hector Aristy. “His work ethic and dedication to our program helped produce one of the best seasons in Old Westbury’s history; as this years MVP, Student Athlete of the Year, Conference Player of the Year, and he broke the schools single season hit record with 57 hits. Felix hit safely in 28 of 34 games and had a total of 21 multi hit games. Felix has been the most versatile player we have had in a long time and he will be missed next season.”

Felix is working toward receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and has recently been accepted to the New York City Police Academy.
