Patchogue, NY- Nationally ranked SUNY Cortland defeats Old Westbury 17-8. Cortland jumped to an 11-0 lead for the first three innings. The Panthers clawed back scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the fourth, when juniors Pete Petrides (Massapequa Park, NY) and a RBI single by Peter Reyes (Brentwood, NY) both had RBI singles. Teammate Jamie Quinn (Massapequa, NY) tallied an RBI on a groundout. In the fifth inning the combination of Petrides and Reyes added two more runs. The last two runs for Old Westbury came in the ninth inning when both Leo Hernandez (New York, NY) and Joe Nuzzolese (Wantagh, NY) both hit RBI singles. Senior second baseman Felix Tatis (Brooklyn, NY) was the strength of the offense for the Panthers going 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. The Panthers will host their first home game on March 23 against John Jay at 3:30 pm.
