The Farmingdale State baseball team swept this afternoon's conference season-opening doubleheader against Old Westbury, taking game one 2-0 and following with a 9-1 win in game two. With the win, Farmingdale State improves to 7-11 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline, while the Panthers fall to 4-7 and 0-2 in the league.

In game one, Ryan Pembroke scored the winning run in the second inning, as Luis Felician's ground out brought him home from third. Pembroke would take credit for the Rams' second run, as his RBI double in the sixth drove in John Basquez, putting Farmingdale State ahead by the 2-0 final.

In game two, Pembroke once again led the Rams, this time with a 3-fro-3 performance from the plate, which resulted in four RBI.

In the second inning, Labrozzi's walk with bases loaded drove in the Rams' first run. Ciminelli doubled on the next play, driving home two more runs, giving Farmingdale State a 3-0 lead. The Rams added another run in the fourth, as Pembroke's sacrifice fly score Nick Barone and went on to score three in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Old Westbury's lone run came in the sixth, as Greg Jones scored on an error by the Rams' second baseman.

Senior pitcher Nelson Hernandez went 4.1 innings and took the loss for Old Westbury. Alan Anderson went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the offense for Old Westbury in game two.

Old Westbury will host Maritime in a Skyline doubleheader tomorrow, but will host the Privateers at Kings Point. First pitch is scheduled for 11 am.
