Alcantara and Geronimo Earn All-Skyline Conference Baseball Honors
May 5, 2006

Two Old Westbury baseball players have received Skyline Conference Postseason Honors, the league announced today. Junior Darly Alcantara was named to the All-Skyline First Team, while junior Ramon Geronimo earned a spot on the Second Team.

Alcantara, now in his third season with the Panthers, made the First Team as its utility player after splitting time mostly between shortstop and second base in 2006. He is batting .316 on the season and leads Old Westbury with 20 RBI thus far. He is fourth in the Skyline Conference in triples with seven on the season, including three this past week and has connected on all seven stolen base attempts this season.

Geronimo is in his first season at Old Westbury and earns a spot on the Second Team as a designated hitter. He leads Old Westbury and is fourth in the Skyline Conference batting .426 with a team-best 46 hits so far. He has 11 extra base hits, with seven doubles, two triples and two homeruns and leads the Panthers with 22 runs scored.

Old Westbury is 14-20 on the season, with four games remaining on its schedule. The Panthers concluded the conference season with an 8-10 record, finishing sixth. Stevens' Tim Meehan was named the Player of the Year; Centenary's Andrew Koncen was the Pitcher and the Rookie of the Year.
