Old Westbury's Director of Athletics, John Lonardo, has been appointed to the NCAA Division III Baseball Committee, which directs the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. The appointment, a four-year term, is effective September 1, 2006.
The 2006 committee was chaired by John W. Casey from Tufts University and consisted of athletic directors and head baseball coaches from each of the eight Division III regions (New England, New York, Mid-Atlantic, South, Mideast, Central, Midwest, West).
Committee members' responsibilities include representing the regional committees, evaluating teams and regions and ultimately selecting the field for the Division III Championship.
Lonardo, who has been at the helm of the Old Westbury Athletic Department since July 2000, currently serves as the Baseball Chairperson for the Skyline Conference and has held that post since 2002.
