BROOKLYN, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Baseball team swept past the Blue Jays of Polytechnic University on Saturday afternoon at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, New York.  Old Westbury received a 14 strikeout no-hitter from Robert Whitenack to lift the Panthers to a 11-0 victory in game one and was followed up by a 14 strikeout, 1-hit performance by David Collado in a 7-1 win in the series finale.  Old Westbury improves to 10-6 in league play and 13-26 overall while Polytechnic University drops to 5-9 in Skyline Conference action and 10-20 on the season.

Panthers at the plate (Game 1): Anthony Fernandez (2-for-3, RBI, BB, HBP) and Bill Campbell (2-for-4) led the offensive explosion for the Green and Ivory in game one.  Fernandez reached base on a pair of singles en route to stealing six bases and scoring three runs.  Campbell clubbed a solo homerun after doubling in his previous at bat to finish with three runs batted in.

Panthers on the mound (Game 1): Robert Whitenack (4-4-Overall, 4-1-Skyline) tossed a no-hitter with a 14 strikeout performance in a dominant game one outing.  Whitenack just fell short of a perfect game after he gave up his lone walk with two out in the ninth inning.  Whitenack becomes the second Panther in Old Westbury Baseball history to throw a no-hitter since John DeBiaso accomplished greatness in 1997.  Whitenack's accomplishments did not end there, as he set a school record for strikeouts in a season with 67, passing Adam Gomez, who recorded 62 in 2002.  Whitenack also set a single game record at Old Westbury with his stellar 14 strikeout performance.

Panthers at the plate (Game 2): Anthony Fernandez (1-for-2, BB, HBP) followed up his six stolen base performance with two more to go along with one run scored.

Panthers on the mound (Game 2): David Collado (1-6 Overall, 1-3 Skyline) threw a one hitter with 14 strikeouts in game two.  Collado gave up a single in the sixth inning to lose the no-hitter and handed out three free passes.  Collado's seven inning complete game performance earned him his first victory of the season in stunning fashion, as he tied Robert Whitenack for the single game record of 14 strikeouts which was set earlier in game one of the double-header.

Old Westbury returns to the diamond on Tuesday, April 29th for a non-conference game at Lehman College.  First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.  For more information about the Old Westbury Panthers or to follow your favorite sports and events, log onto http://www.oldwestburypanthers.com/.
