OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Baseball team split a double-header with Skyline Conference opponent, St. Joseph's College (L.I.) on Sunday afternoon at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex.  Old Westbury dominated the Golden Eagles in the first game, 6-1 and were then edged, 4-3 in the second game.  Old Westbury moves to 2-16 overall and 1-1 in league play while St. Joseph's (L.I.) is now 9-8 on the season and 4-2 in conference action.        

Panthers at the plate (Game 1): David Collado and Emmanuel Mateo each tallied a pair of hits to lead the Panthers offensive attack.  Collado went 2-for-4 with a double; one run scored and drove in Ryan Blanco (1-for-4, RBI, SB) from second base off a single in the fifth inning.  Emmanuel Mateo hit 2-for-4 with a couple of singles, one stolen base and scored one run while Ben Farmer (1-for-2, 2 SB's) doubled and scored two runs.  Joe Mazzarese (1-for-4) drove in two Panthers including a double and one stolen base. 

Golden Eagles at the plate (Game 1): Mike Gerdes hit 1-for-5 and scored the lone run for the Golden Eagles when Jon Welsh (0-for-3) brought him home in the eighth inning.  Jeff Coyle went 1-for-5 while Fred Morales was 1-for-3 at the plate. 

Panthers on the mound (Game 1): Robert Whitenack (1-3) tossed eight strong innings and sent five Golden Eagles back to the dugout on strikes.  Whitenack surrendered one run (0 earned) on three hits and handed out four free passes.  Jorge Hiraldo and George Pagan pitched the ninth inning to close the door on St. Joseph's (L.I.). 

Golden Eagles on the mound (Game 1): Zack Keckley pitched eight innings and was charged for six earned runs on nine hits.  Keckley struck out two Panthers while walking three.

Game notes (Game 1): Old Westbury out-hit St. Joseph's (L.I.), 9-4 including a 4-0 advantage in the extra base hit department.  On the base path, Old Westbury swept 4-of-5 bases and stranded three Panthers while St. Joseph's (L.I.) left 10 Golden Eagles on base.  On the defensive front, Old Westbury committed four errors while St. Joseph's (L.I.) had one.  On the mound, Old Westbury struck out six Golden Eagles and St. Joseph's (L.I.) stuck out two Panthers.

Panthers at the plate (Game 2): David Collado and Thomas Butler were the lone Panthers to connect for a multiple hit game.  Collado (2-for-2) hit a double and scored one run while Butler (2-for-2) tripled and stole one base.  Ben Farmer went 1-for-2 and scored two runs and stole two bases.

Golden Eagles at the plate (Game 2): Frank Dipresso and Mike Hernandez were two of four Golden Eagles to total multiple hits.  Dipresso (2-for-4) singled home Nick Rizzo in the first inning and later scored while Hernandez (2-for-3) score one run off a Jeff Coyle (1-for-1) double in the fourth inning.  Fred Morales and Jon Welch each hit 2-for-4.

Panthers on the mound (Game 2): David Collado hurled six and one third innings on the mound and struck out six Golden Eagles in a losing effort.  Collado gave up one earned run (3 runs) on nine hits while handing out three free passes.  George Pagan pitched two thirds of an inning and allowed one hit and one walk.

Golden Eagles on the mound (Game 2): Chris Patronaggio tossed five innings and gave up two earned runs and walked two Panthers.  Justin Maravegias closed out the final two innings to earn the victory after allowing one earned run on one hit, despite walking three Panthers. 

Game notes (Game 2): Old Westbury was out-hit by St. Joseph's (L.I.), 10-6, despite drawing finishing with a 2-1 advantage in the extra base hit department.  Old Westbury swept three bases and stranded five Panthers while St. Joseph's (L.I.) left 10 Golden Eagles on base and stole one base.  On the defensive front, Old Westbury committed two errors while St. Joseph's (L.I.) had three.  On the mound, Old Westbury struck out six Golden Eagles and St. Joseph's (L.I.) were unable to sit down a single Panther on strikes.
