PANTHER JV BASEBALL TOPPED BY SUFFOLK C.C.-GRANT, 9-4

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Junior Varsity Baseball team lost a 9-4 decision to Suffolk Community College-Grant on Thursday evening at the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. Old Westbury moves to 1-6 overall while Suffolk-Grant improves to 11-3 on the season.
Panthers at the plate: Anthony Fernandez (1-for-4) led the Panthers with two stolen bases and scored one run after singling to reach base. Andrew Hevia hit 1-for-3 and score one run while Nick Tejada (1-for-2) drove in one Panther. Justin Morales drove in one run and scored one run.
Longhorns at the plate: Matt Blouin and Giovanni Jimenez led Suffolk-Grant with three hits apiece. Blouin (3-for-5) connected on a double and drove in two runs and scored two while Jimenez (3-for-6, SB) clubbed a triple and drove in one run and scored two. Mike Kitt (2-for-4, RBI, R), Nolan Lauterborn (2-for-5) and Conor Burke (2-for-5, RBI) each hit a pair of singles.
Panthers on the mound: Joshua Burgos threw five innings of work and gave up seven runs (3 earned) and struck out two Longhorns and walked two. Jake Tauber relieved Burgos for two innings, in which he gave up two rusn (0 earned) on three hits. Eddie Morales closed out the final two innings, surrendering three hits and striking out two.
Longhorns on the mound: Anthony Quatrano pitched the first four innings and gave up four runs (3 earned) on four hits, Quatrano struck out four Panthers and walked two before Nick Galioto threw the final five innings, allowing only one hit and striking out seven.
Game notes: Old Westbury was out-hit, 15-5 including falling 3-0 in the extra base hit department. On the base path, the Green and Ivory stole four bases and stranded five Panthers while Suffolk-Grant had five stolen bases and left 11 Longhorns on base. In the field, Old Westbury committed seven errors and Suffolk-Grant had three. On the mound, Old Westbury rang up four Longhorns on strikes as Suffolk-Grant sent 11 Panthers back to the dugout on strikes.
