Old Westbury men's basketball player Michael Garrett has been named to the All-Skyline Conference Second Team, it was announced by the league on Tuesday evening.
Garrett, a senior guard, led the Panthers in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game, and in assists with 87 for the season. One of the top three-point threats in the league, Garrett finished sixth in three-point shooting, hitting 42.2% from long range with a total of 114 threes on the season. Defensively, Garrett also played a key role for the Panthers this season, picking up a team-best 87 steals.
On December 12, 2005, Garrett was named the Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after he led the Panthers to a 3-0 week, averaging 20.7 points, 5.7 assists, 2.6 steals and had a 2.4 assist to turnover ratio. Garrett shot 56.8% (21-of-27) from the field and 68.8% (11-of-16) from the three-point arc in three games.
The Panthers finished the season with a 14-12 overall record and their 6-8 league mark earned them the No. 7 seed in the Skyline Playoffs. Old Westbury fell to No. 2 Manhattanville in the quarterfinal round.
