PANTHERS TOP MANHATTANVILLE IN A VALIANT EFFORT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -- Junior forward Divine Jackson scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds (4 offensive) that was highlighted by a game-winning tip-in as time expired. Old Westbury took sole possession of second place with the 75-73 win. The Panthers improve to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in Skyline play while Manhattanville drops to 11-4 and 4-2 in the Skyline.
Old Westbury led by three, 73-70 with: 19 left when Divine Jackson turned the ball over on the inbounds. Manhattanville junior guard Brendan Flynn connected on a three-pointer to tie the game at 73 all. Old Westbury junior guard Ian Johnson advanced the ball to Garthlette James who took a 15-foot jump shot that rimmed out. Divine Jackson grabbed the offensive rebound and scored the game wining points on a tip-in.
Garthlette James led the way with a game-high 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting. James grabbed 6 rebounds, dished out 5 assists, recorded 3 blocks and nabbed 1 steal. Joshua Frazier added 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting. Kenneth Eusey contributed with 11 points, 5 assists, 4 steals and 4 assists.
Manhattanville was led by Brian Fink's 15 points, which included 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Donte Chisom dished out a game-high 7 assists to go along with 10 points and 4 steals. John Dibetta added 10 points.
Old Westbury shot 50 percent from the floor on the day (30-60), including 5-12 from three-point territory. The Panthers out-rebounded the Valliant's by 15, 39-24. Manhattanville shot 42.9 percent from the floor, connecting on 27-of-63 attempts.
Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday, January 20 on the road at Yeshiva University. The Skyline conference match-up is scheduled to tip-off at 8:30 PM.
