James Leads Panthers into Championship Game with 61-44 win over Maryland Bible

STEVENSON, MD.-On Saturday the Panthers proved to Maryland Bible why they are heading to the Championship game of the 9th Annual Legg Mason Winter Classic at Villa Julie College. Old Westbury came out focused on the defensive end, racking up 17 steals and forcing 29 Maryland Bible turnovers. The Panthers made smart decisions on the offensive end, only giving the ball away 12 times in the 61-44 first round win.
Garthlette James led Old Westbury with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go along with 6 rebounds (5 offensive) in the win. The Panthers floor general Kenneth Eusey scored 8 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and nabbed 5 steals. Old Westbury's Anthony Stowe and Dan Kane scored 10 points each.
Maryland Bible was led by Tyler Yanosky's 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and Joe Palatto's 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.
The Panthers out-rebounded Maryland Bible by 10, 39-29 including 22 offensive rebounds.
The Panthers (5-4 Overall, 2-1 Skyline) will tip-off at 6:30 PM against the Mustangs from Villa Julie College. The third place consolation game will be played at 4:30 PM, featuring Lebanon Valley College and Maryland Bible.
