December 11, 2006

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.- Freshman center Joshua Frazier (Westbury, NY) sent the Old Westbury men's basketball team off to a 3-2 start in 2006-07.  Coming off a one-and-one finish last week in which he averaged 22.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game, Frazier was recognized on Monday, by the Skyline Conference with a "Rookie of the Week" award.

Frazier opened last week with 21 points, 5 rebounds and two blocked shots during a 96-91 defeat at US Merchant Marine Academy.  He followed his career high performance, with new career highs of 23 points and 12 rebounds at home against Centenary College on Saturday, recording his first career double-double.

Frazier is averaging a team-best 18.3 points per game, which ranks him fifth in the Skyline and second among rookies.  He ranks sixth in the conference with 1.0 block per game.

Old Westbury returns to action on December 21 as the Panthers travel to Rochester, N.Y. to take on Nazareth College at 7 p.m.
