MEN'S BASKETBALL ROLLS OVER MARITIME, 82-67 AND EARNS #3 SEED IN CONFERENCE TOURNEY

THROGGS NECK, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Men's Basketball team concluded their regular season on Saturday afternoon with an 82-67 victory at Skyline Conference opponent, Maritime College. Old Westbury moves to 16-9 overall and 15-3 in league play while Maritime College drops to 12-13 on the season and 9-9 in conference action.
Old Westbury and Maritime battled back and forth in the first half as the Panthers sizzled in the shooting column, converting 18-of-35 (51.4%) from the field while Maritime sank 17-of-39 (43.6%). Both teams went into the half-way point, tied at 39-39. Old Westbury held Maritime to 9-of-24 shooting in the second-half while connecting on 17-of-35 (48.6%) en route to outscoring the Privateers, 43-28.
Garthlette James led the Panthers with a career-high 32 points, including 15-of-22 from the field. Divine Jackson followed with 12 points and seven rebounds while Lester Prosper had 11 points, eight rebounds, six blocks and one steal in 23 minutes of action. Shane DeNully chipped in with seven points and four assists. Brandon Mays had 10 points off the bench at the same time as Anthony Stowe had eight points and eight rebounds
Jamal Webb poured in a team-high 27 points for Maritime College on 10-of-20 from the field. Webb included nine rebounds, six assists, four steals and one block while Kirk McRae had 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Rahshawn Pringle added 11 points and Giovanni Hurley contributed seven points and six rebounds.
Old Westbury edged Maritime in the rebound department, 39-36,
including 13-11 advantage off the offensive glass. The Old
Westbury defensive attack forced Maritime into 14 turnovers,
resulting in six steals. Old Westbury connected on 35-of-70
(50%) from the field while Maritime landed 26-of-63
(41.3%).
The Panthers are slated as the #3 seed in the upcoming Skyline
Conference Tournament and will host Yeshiva University on Tuesday,
February 26th at the Clark Athletic Center.
Game-time is set for 8:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased one
hour prior to tip-off in the lobby of the Clark Athletic
