MEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS PURCHASE, 96-45

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Men's Basketball team ran away with a 96-45 decision against Skyline Conference opponent, Purchase College on Wednesday evening at the Clark Athletic Center. Old Westbury stands at 15-9 overall and 14-3 in league play while Purchase drops to 3-21 on the season and 2-15 in conference action.
Old Westbury got off a slow start until Brandon Mays dropped in a lay up to give the Panthers an early 20-14 advantage with 10:02 remaining in the first-half. Over the final ten minutes in the opening half, Old Westbury out-scored Purchase, 32-9 en route to a 52-23 cushion at half-time. The Panthers out-paced Purchase throughout the second-half, shooting 17-of-45 (37.8%) to out-score their opponents, 44-22.
Old Westbury received a great effort by four seniors on their special night. Anthony Stowe and Divine Jackson both posted double-doubles. Stowe finished with 13 points, 14 rebounds and two steals as Jackson had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Ian Johnson added five points and five rebounds and Brandon DeNoyer chipped in with six points. Garthlette James led the Panthers with a game-high 18 points and three steals. Brandon Mays and Lester Prosper followed with 15 points apiece. Prosper finished with 14 rebounds and two blocks in 17 minutes of action. Shane DeNully dished out a game-high eight assists along with three steals.
Henry Ferrarin led Purchase with 13 points. Ferrarin connected on 6-of-7 from the field and pulled down five rebounds while Kazeem Famuyide had 10 points. Michael Wimmer nabbed three steals and Tyriq Harrington pulled-down six rebounds.
Old Westbury dominated Purchase in the rebound department, 64-30 including 20-9 off the offensive glass. The Old Westbury defensive attacked forced 17 turnovers and tallied 11 steals. The Panthers shot 39-of-83 (47%) for the game while Purchase sank just 20-of-71 (28.2%).
