TROY, N.Y. – Craig DiDomenico’s two first half goals led Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) to a 4-0 win over SUNY Old Westbury in a non-conference Division III men's soccer game at Harkness Field. With the loss the Panthers fall to 4-9 overall on the season.
DiDomenico's first goal came when Colin Donahue crossed the ball from the right side and past the Brian Hicks, who came out to play the pass at 19:58. DiDomenico tipped the ball
into the net for the 1-0 advantage. On the second goal, DiDomenico and Donahue hooked up once again, this time with DiDomenico taking the pass out of the air the 25:19 mark.
Rensselaer’s Mox Molleo added a pair of second half goals, one assisted by Kris Zanotto and
the other by senior goalkeeper John Thibdeau.
Thibdeau, a sophomore, did not make any saves in the game while Hicks (Valley Stream, NY/Valley Stream South) stopped 11 shots, including six in the first half. Rensselaer finished
with 41 shots versus the Panthers' one.
Old Westbury will face Mt. St. Mary on Monday, October 17 at 3:00 pm in a Skyline Conference match-up. That game, which is the make-up for Saturday’s cancellation, will begin at 3:00 pm.
