The United States Merchant Marine Academy topped the Old Westbury Panthers Wednesday evening, 4-0. Kings Point improves to 9-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the Skyline, while Old Westbury falls to 4-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Kings Point got on the board early, as Nick Dandapani tallied the game’s first goal in the sixth minute (6:39) off a pass from Kyle Flynn that led to a breakaway.
Fifty-one seconds later, Kings Point scored again as David Arnold intercepted a pass from an Old Westbury defender. Flynn dished the ball to Patrick Boyle who found the back of the net to give USMMA a quick 2-0 lead.
Flynn scored again, this time in the 24th minute (24:37) after connecting with a pass from Chris Flanagan.
Scott Samulis scored King’s Point final goal of the night came in the 75th minute, making the final score 4-0.
Brian Hicks, who was challenged for most of the night, finished with 14 saves in goal for Old Westbury.
The Panthers return home on Saturday when they host Ramapo in non-conference action. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
