Riverdale, NY – The Old Westbury men’s soccer team dropped its 2005 Skyline season opener to Mount St. Vincent this afternoon, 2-1. With the loss the Panthers drop to 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in the league, while the win improves Mount to 1-1 overall and in the conference.
The Panthers took an early 1-0 lead, as Shawn Holland tallied the game’s first goal, his fourth goal in three games. John Senatore chipped the ball to Holland, who scored from just inside the 18-yard box.
Mt. St. Vincent tied the game at one and went on to tally a second goal, the would-be game-winner. Old Westbury had an opportunity to tie the game with a penalty shot, but Branden DeNoyer’s attempt was no good and the Dolphins held on for the win.
The Panthers return to conference action on Saturday, September 17 at Maritime. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
