The Old Westbury men's soccer team dropped this evening's season opening game 4-0 to Union College in the first round of the Red Hawk Classic hosted by Rensselaer. The Panthers will face the host Red Hawks tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm.
Union took a 1-0 lead on a goal by junior Chris Poey to the right corner at the 15:42 mark. The Dutchmen's second goal game just over 15 minutes later when Josh Butler headed the ball to the left side of the net.
Ryan Banagan's tip in off of a Luke LaBella cross at the 58:11 mark put Union up 3-0 and Tripp Pietrak and Banagan teamed up for Union's fourth and final goal late in the game.
Rob Kramer earned the win in goal for Union, while Brian Hicks, who finished with 15 saves after the Panthers were outshot 26-4, took the loss for Old Westbury.
