The Old Westbury Panthers celebrated their annual night game on campus with an offensive explosion scoring five goals while cruising to a 5-0 victory over John Jay. With the win the Panthers improve to 3-4-2 and have a 5 game unbeaten streak going 3-0-2.
Old Westbury had a balanced scoring attack, started in the 12th minute when junior midfielder Alex Renwart put in a rebound shot from freshman Felipe Cavalcanti. Eight minutes later Cavalcanti tallied a goal after fellow freshman Brandon Dinis found him all alone in the six yard box. Brandon DeNoyer jumped in on the offensive attack late in the first period by drilling a ball into the upper left hand corner from 35 yards out. It was DeNoyer's first goal of the season.
The Panthers leading scorer took over in the second half tallying both goals to close out the scoring at five. John Senatore took four shots in the half, while putting three on goal and cashing in on two of the attempts. Both goals by Senatore were unassisted. In the 68th minute he put home a loose ball after Edwin Casas, the goalie for John Jay, had turned back two point blank shots. 10 minutes later, Senatore would beat John Jay's new goalie, Alex Callejas, one on one.
Brain Hicks gets his third win in goal this season, and his second-straight shutout. Hicks has only allowed three goals in his last 460 minutes played. Tonight in 90 minutes, he made two saves, and has played every minute in net this year for the Panthers.
Old Westbury will travel to Stevens Tech on Saturday to take on top ranked Skyline opponent. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm on the Ducks' Hoboken campus. John Jay falls to 2-8 overall with the loss tonight.
