CANINO, RESCIGNO & ESPOSITO GARNER ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Softball team was honored today as a trio of freshman garnered All-Conference selections. Shortstop Maria Canino (Huntington, N.Y.) and outfielder Nicole Rescigno (Howard Beach, N.Y.) made First-Team as Ashley Esposito (Nesconset, N.Y.) took home Second-Team as the Skyline Conference released the All-Conference teams today.

Canino appeared in all 30 games as she posted monster numbers in her first year at Old Westbury.  Canino capped the regular season off by batting .485 with 11 home runs and 46 runs batted in to go along with five triples for an impressive .990 slugging percentage, all of which are now single-season school records. 

In 25 games, Rescigno hit .338 with one home run, 13 runs and 13 runs batted in with 23 hits.  Rescigno was second on the team with a .515 slugging percentage.

In 27 games, Esposito hit second on the team with a .425 batting average, 31 hits, 27 runs and a .517 on base percentage to go along with a team best 14 stolen bases. 

Old Westbury (15-15, 5-11) will travel to Fairleigh Dickinson University-College at Florham on Wednesday, May 7th for the first round of the ECAC Championship Tournament.  First pitch is slated for 4:00 p.m.  For more information about the Old Westbury Panthers, or to follow your favorite Panther sports and events, log onto http://www.oldwestburypanthers.com/.
