CANINO NAMED TO SKYLINE CONFERENCE WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

APRIL 14, 2008

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Softball team was honored this week as freshman Maria Canino (Huntington, N.Y.) was named the Skyline Conference Player of the Week.

Canino batted .500 (6-for-12) in double-headers against Briarcliffe College and Mount Saint Mary. Canino scored five runs and stole one base while recoding multiple hits in all games except game two against Briarcliffe College.

On the season, Canino is hitting for an average of .418 (23-for-55) and scored 23 runs (5^th in Skyline). Canino leads the squad in a handful of categories, with six round trippers (2^nd in Skyline), 25 runs batted in (4^th in Skyline), three triples (T-3^rd Skyline) and a slugging percentage of .909 (3^rd in Skyline).

Old Westbury returns to action for Jackie Robinson Day on Tuesday, April 15^th to host Skyline Conference opponent, Maritime College.
