LADY PANTHER ASHLEY EMBRY = 3X SKYLINE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
(Little Neck, NY) Tuesday, January 20, 2004 --- The third time was more than just a charm as Old Westbury first year student Ashley Embry was today again named Skyline Conference Women?s Basketball Rookie of the Week. It?s the third time this season the standout from Hempstead earned the weekly award. Embry was named for the week ending 01/18/04 on the strength of three outstanding performances, including 20 points scored, and 12 rebounds during a hard fought loss to Kings Point, 24 points with five rebounds in a win versus SUNY Maritime, and 10 points w/12 rebounds in a winning effort against Manhattanville College. Embry also averaged 2.9 assists and 1.6 steals per game during the reporting week. Moreover, through 01/19/04, Embry leads Old Westbury (6-8, 3-0 Skyline) with 14.7 points scored per game and 10.4 rebounds per game.
Embry's two previous Rookies of the Week awards during 2003-04 were for the weeks ending 12/02/03 and 12/22/03. Skyline Conference publicist Kim McNulty made all award announcements from offices in Little Neck.
