Nov 19, 2005

The Old Westbury women's basketball team fell to the host Roadrunners in the Championship game of the 2005 Ramapo Tip-Off Classic on Saturday. The Panthers' Danna Purnell was named to the All-Tournament team.

Ramapo pulled out to a 14-point advantage in the first half, but behind a push from Old Westbury newcomer Jasmine Young, the Panthers cut the lead to 10, trailing 28-18 at the break.

Old Westbury could not hold off the Roadrunners in the second half, as Ramapo built themselves a 25-point cushion and never looked back.

Young finished the game with eight points and nine rebounds, while Jennifer Hoyt added eight points for the Panthers.

Purnell garnered a spot on the All-Tournament team after averaging 10 points and six rebounds per game over the two-day event.

Brooklyn College defeated St. Elizabeth 70-64 in the consolation round.
