Old Westbury Picks Up 65-49 Skyline Win Over Manhattanville
Dec 17, 2005

The Old Westbury Panthers used a 15-4 second half run to put the game out of reach for host Manhattanville, as Old Westbury went on to win the game 65-49. The Panthers improve to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the Skyline Conference, while the Valiants fall to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.

With the Panthers up seven with just over five minutes remaining in the game, Monique Midy kicked off the run that flowed to the end of the game. Candyce Payton's free throws with 1:07 to play, were the final points of the run and the game, and left Old Westbury with the final 16-point lead.

Despite a poor shooting percentage by both teams (38%), the Panthers dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Valiants 43-31 and tallied 22 points from the free throw line to take control of the game.

Rachel Yambaye led all scorers with 17 points and finished with a double-double by adding a game-high 11 boards. Danna Purnell added 15 points and six steals in the win.

Old Westbury returns to action on December 28 at the Lehman College tournament.
