Old Westbury Women Fall to Union in Championship Game 55-27

The Old Westbury women's basketball team fell 55-27 to Union College in the championship game at the 2005 Lehman College Holiday Classic this afternoon. The Panthers fall to 6-4 overall, while Union improves to 4-4.

Old Westbury advanced to the finals after beating the host Lehman Lightning in the opening round, 55-52. Union topped Kean 82-66 to earn a spot in today's championship.

The Panthers struggled with accuracy for the second-straight game, hitting only 22.47% of their shots and 35.7% of their free throws. Union's defensive effort produced 27 Old Westbury turnovers and held the Panthers to a season-low 27 points.

Union used a balanced scoring attack to post 55 points in win, with all but one player getting on the board.

Rachel Yambaye grabbed double-digit rebounds for the second-straight game, this time pulling down a game-high 11 boards.
