Old Westbury Wins Skyline Regular Season Finale 77-51 at St. Joseph?s

The Old Westbury women's basketball team beat local rival St. Joseph's 77-51 to close out the Skyline regular season with a 6-5 mark, the best record since joining the conference four years ago. Overall, the Panthers improve to 12-8 with two non-conference games remaining on the schedule.

Danna Purnell led all scorers, shooting 10-of-17 from the field for a total of 21 points. The junior guard also added eight rebounds. Jennifer Hoyt came off the bench to score 15 points and also pulled down eight boards, while Leah Hernandez and Monique Midy chipped in 14 points each.

Both teams shot even, with Old Westbury connecting on 42.9% of its shots and St. Joseph's hitting 43.6%, but the Panthers domination was on the boards, where Old Westbury pulled down 44 rebounds to St. Joseph's 23.

Old Westbury's defensive effort resulted in 28 Hawk turnovers and 34 points off turnovers.

The Panthers return to action on Tuesday, February 14 at CCNY. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
