PURNELL PUTS UP QUADRUPLE-DOUBLE AS PANTHERS ROAR PAST NEW ROCHELLE, 79-28

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The Old Westbury women's basketball team blew past the College of New Rochelle (6-11) on Saturday afternoon at home by 51 points, 79-28. The story of the game was Danna Purnell. Purnell became the first player in Old Westbury history to record a quadruple-double as she combined 14 points, 13 steals, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. The Panthers were in control the entire game, ahead 23-5 half way through the first-half. The Panthers led 38-17 at the half. Old Westbury showed no mercy for the visitors, out-scoring New Rochelle by 30 in the second half, 41-11.
Old Westbury's Ashawn Ferguson led the way for the Panthers with 23 points and 13 rebounds (10 offensive) to go along with 4 steals and 2 blocks. Danna Purnell finished the game shooting 6-of-11 from the floor tallying 14 points, nabbing 13 steals, dishing out 11 assists and grabbing 10 rebounds. Leah Hernandez poured in 18 first-half points and ended with 21 points including 4-of-8 from downtown, 3 steals and 3 assists. Monique Midy added 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field to go along with 13 rebounds (8 offensive), 3 steals and 1 block. Jazmin Bradley contributed 4 steals, 4 rebounds and 1 block shot. Jessica Lippolis came off the bench and nabbed 2 steals.
The College of New Rochelle's Ruchelle Austin recorded a double-double, pouring in a game-high 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to go along with 6 steals in 40 minutes of action. Megan Showell recorded 19 turnovers
Old Westbury forced 44 turnovers and recorded 30 steals. The Panthers out-rebounded New Rochelle by 22, 50-28. Old Westbury shot 40.7 percent (35-of-86) from the field compared to 10-of-27 (27 percent) shooting for New Rochelle.
