PANTHERS WIN BIG OVER CCNY, 77-17

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The Old Westbury women's basketball team held CCNY under double digits in each half and shot 64 percent in the second half to seal a 60 point, 77-17 non-conference victory. The Panthers featured three players in double digits that out-scored the entire CCNY team. Danna Purnell and Monique Midy scored 16 points apiece and Ashawn Ferguson added 11 points to lead the way for the Panthers on senior night. Old Westbury improves to 12-11 overall while CCNY remains winless at 0-24.
The Panthers started the game on a 14-2 run with 14 minutes to go in the half. Old Westbury held CCNY to 10 percent (2-of-20) shooting from the field in the first as they went into the half with a 36-8 lead. The Panthers shot 64 percent from the field in the second half, out-scoring CCNY by 32 points, 41-9.
One of three seniors on the team, Danna Purnell lead the way with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Ashawn Ferguson posted a double-double with 12 rebounds and 11 points to go along with 3 steals. Monique Midy tallied 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block. Jazmin Bradley contributed 8 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. Lilla Mack grabbed 7 rebounds and scored 6 points. Chanel Benjamin recorded a game-high 5 steals, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 block. Janera Johnson shot 2-of-3 from the field and finished with 4 points and 3 rebounds. Jessica Lippolis scored 4 points and dished out 1 assist. The seniors combined for 24 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, 8 steals and 3 blocks.
The Panthers forced 29 turnovers and recorded 17 steals, holding CCNY to 12 percent shooting from the floor (5-of-41). Old Westbury out-rebounded CCNY by 17, 48-21.
