PANTHERS FALL TO DOLPHINS, 59-50

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The Old Westbury women's basketball team was held to 10 points over the final 8:27 in the second half and fell to the Dolphins of Mount Saint Vincent, 59-50. Old Westbury is now 12-12 overall and 4-11 in Skyline play. Mount Saint Vincent improves to14-9 overall and 9-7 in the Skyline.
Old Westbury posted three Panthers in double-digits and were led by Monique Midy and Ashawn Ferguson, who scored 12 points apiece. Midy finished with a game-high 13 rebounds to go along with 2 steals and 1 block. Ferguson pulled down 12 rebounds (9 offensive) and nabbed 3 steals. Danna Purnell came off the bench and contributed 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and 1 block. Jazmin Bradley added 7 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Chanel Benjamin provided instant energy off the bench and all around effort before fouling out with 2:47 remaining in the game. Benjamin finished with 3 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 16 minutes.
Mount Saint Vincent recorded three Dolphins in double-digits. Karissa Koerner led all scorers with 20 points and 4 rebounds. Kaitlin Burud tallied 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 5 assists. Courtney Heesemann added 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 block.
Old Westbury turned the ball over 27 times but out-rebounded the Dolphins by 11, 44-33. Old Westbury finished the game shooting 21-of-59 compared to Mount Saint Vincent's 19-of-56 from the floor. The Panthers converted 5-of-16 free-throw attempts which proved to be the difference in the game when the Dolphins connected on 14-of-22.
