PANTHERS RUN AWAY FROM THE CYCLONES, 72-58

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The Old Westbury women's basketball team jumped out to an early 14-2 lead and ran away from the Cyclones with a 72-58 Skyline Conference victory.  The Panthers took an early 31-23 lead at the half and out-scored Centenary by 6 in the second, 41-35.  The win moves Old Westbury (13-12, 5-11) into seventh seed in the Skyline Conference playoffs.  Centenary falls to 12-12 overall and is 6-10 in Skyline play.

Old Westbury posted four Panthers in double-digits and were led by Danna Purnell's game-high 20 point, 17 rebound performance.  Purnell finished with a game-high 5 assists to go along with 3 steals and 1 block in 39 minutes.  Ashawn Ferguson tallied 17 points, 8 rebounds and 1 block.  Jazmin Bradley added 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor to g o along with 3 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.  Monique Midy contributed 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Ashley Freeman poured in 7 points on 3-of-4 shooting.  Chanel Benjamin finished with a game-high 5 steals.  

Centenary posted three Cyclones in double--digits.  Jessa Jones was held to 1-of-16 shooting and totaled 16 points (14-of-15 FT) and pulled down 8 rebounds and nabbed 4 steals.  Stephanie Roberts added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals.  Kristen Camuso contributed 12 points and 2 steals off the bench.

Old Westbury forced Centenary into 30 turnovers and 28 percent shooting from the field.  The Panthers out-rebounded the Cyclones by 10, 42-32, while shooting 44 percent from the floor.
