WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CAPTURED BY RAPTORS

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Women's Basketball team lost a Skyline Conference match-up on Saturday afternoon at the Clark Athletic Center to Bard College, 77-62.  Old Westbury is now 5-9 on the season and 1-7 in Skyline Conference action while Bard College climbs to 6-7 overall and 2-6 in league play.

The Panthers started off slow and fought back from a nine point deficit at the 8:43 mark in the opening half to close to gap to seven, 35-28 at the half-way point.  The Raptors started the second-half on a 10-2 run, stretching the lead to 15 points, 45-30 with 16:31 remaining.  Old Westbury did however make a run late in the second half when Ashley Freeman connected and a three-pointer followed by a Pamela Robinson lay up to bring the Panthers within striking distance, 60-51.  The Panthers weren't able to keep pace the rest of the way as Bard outscored them 17-11 in the final 8:27. 

Pamela Robinson poured in a game-high 28 points on 11-of-23 shooting from the floor and dished out five assists to lead Old Westbury.  Shameeka Bryan followed with 16 points, six pull-downs and four steals while Ashley Freeman added 11 points and three triples.  Upfront, Shannon Gilly added six rebounds and four steals as Shalyn Molnar grabbed four rebounds.

Bard College posted four Raptors in double-figures as Molly Malone led the way with 24 points.  Malone knocked down 11-of-21 from the field to go along with 10 rebounds, three blocks and three steals.  Latiqua Williams added a double-double as she registered 17 points and 17 rebounds in addition to four steals.  Blaure Moldenhauer totaled 18 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go with six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals while Elyse Rivas finished with 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals.

Old Westbury was edged in the rebound department, 43-23, including 17-8 off the offensive glass.  Bard College finished the game shooting 32-of-69 (46.4%) from the field including 19-of-33 (57.6%) in the second-half while the Panthers connected 24-of-61 (39.4%).  The two teams combined for 48 turnovers of which Old Westbury totaled 25 giveaways despite working hard on the defensive end, forcing 12 steals.
