WOMEN'S BASKETBALL OUTPACED BY RAMS 74-56

N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury
Women's Basketball team suffered a loss at SUNY rival, Farmingdale
State, 74-56 on Saturday. The Skyline Conference loss puts
the Panthers at 7-12 on the season and 2-10 in league play while
Farmingdale State moves to 13-4 overall and 11-1 conference action.
Old Westbury played their best basketball of the game in the
opening-half and trailed 35-30 at half-time. Old Westbury
connected on 9-of-24 (37.5%) from the field and sank 10-of-14
(71.4%) free-throws. The Panthers struggled in the
second-half, shooting 8-of-33 (24.3%) from the field and were
out-scored 39-26 en route to a 74-56 final.
Pamela Robinson led the Panthers scoring a total of 27 points
and handing out three assists. Robinson made 13-of-14 from
the free-throw line and knocked down two triples. Krystal
Garner scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Shameeka
Bryan had 10 rebounds and six points while Ashley Freeman added six
points, four rebounds and four steals.
Farmingdale State was led to their victory by Jasmine Sistrunk who
finished with18 points, 14 rebounds and two steals. Kimberly
Blankey had 15 total points, eight rebounds along with a game-high
of seven steals and four blocks. Mercedes Miller added 10
points, nine rebounds and three steals.
Old Westbury was edged in the rebound department, 54-48, including
31-19 off the offensive glass. The two teams combined for 44
turnovers, in which Old Westbury was pressured into giving up
28. The Panthers were held to 17-of-57 (37.5%) shooting from
the field but were able to sink 18-of- 23 from the charity stripe.
The Old Westbury Panthers return to action on Wednesday, February
6, 2008 at St. Joseph's College-Long Island. Tip off is
