ROBINSON'S 37 POINTS LEADS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PAST MEDGAR EVERS

BROOKLYN, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Women's Basketball team came away with a 78-74 non-conference victory at Medgar Evers College on Thursday night.  Old Westbury climbs to 7-11 on the season while Medgar Evers drops to 5-14 overall. 

Old Westbury took a slim two-point lead into the half-way point despite shooting 22.2% from the field.  The Panthers improved their shooting just enough in the second-half (30.4%) to help them out-score Medgar Evers, 51-49 en route to a 78-74 victory. 

Pamela Robinson poured in a game-high 37 points to lead the Panthers to victory.  Robinson included seven steals, seven rebounds, four steals and one block in 37 minutes of action.  Old Westbury posted two Panthers with double-doubles as Shannon Gilly finished with 13 points and 10 boards along with four steals at the same time as Krystal Garner scored 15 points, pulled-down 10 rebounds (7 offensive) and nabbed three steals.  Shameeka Bryan totaled 11 boards including six offensive to go along with eight points and four steals.  Ashley Freeman and Shalyn Molnar chipped in with two and three steals, respectively.   

Danielle Moseley recorded a backwards triple-double to lead Medgar Evers.  Moseley totaled 27 points on 12-of-22 shooting from the field, 13 rebounds and was forced into 15 turnovers.  Shakimba Pierre scored 20 points on 10-of-19 shooting and grabbed a game-high 23 rebounds in addition to four steals while Shauntelle Nelson had 19 points, 10 rebounds and was pressured into nine turnovers. 

Old Westbury was edged by Medgar Evers in the rebound department, 61-53, despite pulling-down 26 boards off the offensive glass.  Both teams combined for 57 turnovers and the Old Westbury defensive attack recorded 23 steals and forced Medgar Evers into 36 giveaways.  Despite shooting only 22-of-82 (26.8%) from the floor while Medgar Evers shot 33-of-75 (44%), the difference maker proved to be Old Westbury's 30-of-42 (71.4%) effort from the charity stripe.
