WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS TO ST. JOSEPH'S (LI)

JANUARY 21, 2008

PATCHOGUE, N.Y.-The SUNY College at Old Westbury Women's Swimming team fell on the road at Skyline Conference opponent, St. Joseph's College-Long Island on Monday evening at the John A. Danzi Athletic Center, losing to the Golden Eagles, 96-36.  The Women's squad is now 0-8 on the season and 0-4 in Skyline Conference action while St. Joseph's improves to 4-6 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Highlights for the Panthers were a pair of victories Brenda Marmol, who captured first-place in both the 500-freestyle with a time of 6:31.07 and 50-backstroke (37.48).  Marmol followed her top performances with a second-place finish in the 50-butterfly in at 35.15.  In the 200-medley relay, a team consisting of Mayra Okkotsu, Jessica Marmol, Inez Zuska and Courtney Reid took home a second-place finish after clocking in at 3:21.02.  The 200-freestyle relay squad of Jessica Marmol, Courtney Reid, Inez Zuska and Mayra Okkotsu recorded second-place with a time of 3:23.96.
