Brooklyn, NY With a 3-0 win over Polytechnic University last night, the Old Westbury Panthers reached another milestone in their breakout season, as they clinched their 20th victory. Old Westbury is now 20-5 with just over one week remaining in the regular season.
The Panthers, who lead the NCAA in service aces per game, once again used their key strength, as Jennifer Hoyt, the nations individual leader in service aces, and Jennifer Ragone combined for 20 service aces, tallying 10 a piece. In all, the Panthers finished with 28 aces, as Jessica Ratchford added five, Whitney Alexander two and Monique Midy earned one point off the serve for Old Westbury.
Ratchford led the squad with 10 kills in three games and finished with a double-double, adding 12 digs on the defense end. Alexander chipped in nine kills, while libero Stacey Dubin also contributed double-digits on the defensive end, finishing with 11 digs.
The Panthers will tune-up for the Skyline finale at a tournament hosted by St. Marys College on Friday and Saturday. Old Westbury will battle with Mt. St. Marys for the fourth seed in the Skyline playoffs on Tuesday, November 1.
