St. Marys City, MD Whitney Alexanders 21 kills and 17 digs in two matches was not enough to lift the Panthers over St. Marys and regional power Baruch this afternoon in the second day of action at the Seahawk Invitational. Old Westbury falls to 20-9 overall.
Alexander finished with nine kills and Jessica Ratchford and Jennifer Hoyt added six each, but the Panthers could not stop St. Marys, who won the match 30-15, 30-16 and 30-20. Ratchford went on to finish the match with a double-double after adding 15 digs.
In game two, Alexander added her second double-double of the weekend, leading the Panthers with 12 kills and 11 digs. Ratchford added the top defensive effort, finishing with 18 digs, while Stacey Dubin (10) and Jennifer Ragone (10) rounded out four players in defensive double-digits.
Following day two, Alexander was named to the All-Tournament team.
Old Westbury closes out the 2005 regular season on Tuesday, November 1 at Mount St. Marys at 7:30 pm. The winner of that match will clinch the final spot in the four-team Skyline Conference playoffs.
