Throgs Neck, NY ? The Old Westbury women?s volleyball team split this afternoon?s Skyline tri-match, beating Maritime in three games in the first match before falling to Stevens 3-0 in the second. The win over the Privateers in the day?s first match gave the Panthers a new school record for the most wins in a season; as Old Westbury picked up its sixth win of the year.
Jennifer Hoyt and Jessica Ratchford each tallied six kills in the win over Maritime to lead Old Westbury?s attack. Hoyt and Jennifer Ragone combined for 24 service aces in the win, tallying 13 and 11, respectively.
In the day?s second match, the Panthers fell in three tight games to Stevens, losing 30-23, 30-20 and 30-14. Ratchford was the top offensive contributor for Old Westbury, finishing with six kills in the match, while Stacey Dubin finished with 10 digs on the defensive end.
Old Westbury will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Cooper Union at 7 pm.
