Old Westbury, NY ? Stacey Dubin, a junior on the Old Westbury Panthers? volleyball team was named Rookie of the Week by the Skyline Conference, it was announced today.
Dubin, who is in her first year of competition with the Panthers, receives the first award of her career and the first conference award for Old Westbury this season.
The defensive specialist has played a key role in the Panthers unprecedented success this season, helping Old Westbury to a school record six wins in the first seven games of the season. Dubin, who leads the Panthers in digs with 59 on the season, averaged 2.78 per game in three games this week, including 10 each against Sarah Lawrence and Skyline rival Stevens.
The Panthers, who had the best start in school history with four-straight wins, are now 6-2 overall and 1-1 in the Skyline Conference. They will return to action on Tuesday, September 20 when they host Cooper Union at the Clark Athletic Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.
